Dr Ballim is an Ophthalmologist (Eye Specialist/Surgeon) with experience in dealing with Cataracts, Keratoconus, Corneal Crosslinking, Corneal Problems, Corneal Ulcers, Corneal transplants, Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty, Pterygium, Diabetic Retinopathy, Eye Injuries, Glaucoma, Laser Eye Surgery, Loss of Vision, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Red Eyes, Itchy eyes, Painful eyes, Dry eyes and many other eye problems. He has a special interest in corneal diseases, having previously run a weekly corneal ulcer clinic and a weekly keratoconus clinic.
He achieved his MB ChB at the University of Natal in 2002 and Diploma in Ophthalmology from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2006,In 2009 he completed his specialist degree FC Ophth (SA) form the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. He went on to achieving MMed Ophth degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2014 while in private practice.
As part of the eye centre, we can offer you a large range of the latest scans and tests to ensure the best assessment, tailored for your needs. Our appointments are spaced out to allow adequate time with the doctor. Although we do our best to keep to our appointment times, on occasion, unforeseen emergencies may take precedence and we ask for your patience in this regard.
We deal extensively with medical aids for special tests and medical/surgical procedures. Please check on the specific referral requirements of your medical aid.
We consult on a daily basis, Monday to Friday by appointment only. Dr Ballim who has been in private practice since 2011 and is affiliated to Netcare Parklands Hospital, and Durban Eye Hospital.
We are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, The Ophthalmological Society of South Africa, the Southern African Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the Board of Healthcare Funders.
